NFL Arizona Cardinals Live Stream

The Arizona Cardinals are the oldest professional team still playing football being established in 1898. They joined the National Football League in 1920 and since 1970 they play in the National Football Conference starting in the West Division then moving to NFC West in 2002. In their long history they have undergone numerous name changes as well as playing in various cities but have unfortunately been one of the worst performing NFL teams. They have played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona since 2006 and the team colors are Cardinal red, black and white.

The team began as the Morgan Athletic Club but after buying used faded red uniforms, described as Cardinal red, the team took its new name. They joined the NFL as the Chicago Cardinals and due to a player shortage in the war years they merged with the Pittsburgh Steelers for one season being known as Card-Pitt. In 1960 the team relocated to St Louis before moving again to Arizona in 1988 when they were known as the Phoenix Cardinals until finally becoming the Arizona Cardinals in 1994.

Despite their long history success has been very rare. Five years after joining the NFL in 1925 they were named NFL Champions but it would be more than 20 years before they had any kind of repeat success. In 1947 after winning their Division
they won the NFL Championship by beating the Philadelphia Eagles 28-21. The following year they made it to the final again meeting the Eagles but this time came away second-best, losing 0-7. It would be another twenty-five years before they made the postseason at all losing Divisional playoffs in both 1974 and 1975. And the sad story repeated with another long postseason drought until 1998 losing the Divisional playoffs once more.

The Cards greatest season came in 2008 when they won their Division and proceeded to the Wild Card playoffs beating the Atlanta Falcons 30-24. Next came a comprehensive victory for the first time in the Divisional playoffs beating the Carolina Panthers 33-13. In the NFC Championship they faced the Philadelphia Eagles. Having built up a sizeable lead Cardinal fans watched as the Eagles staged a third quarter comeback and then taking the lead in the fourth quarter. The Cards rallied and sealed the deal with a late touchdown to take them to their first Super Bowl. Facing the Pittsburgh Steelers in the final the Cardinals were behind for three quarters before staging a comeback and taking the lead. But in a heartbreaking score with just 35 seconds left on the clock the Steelers retook the lead and the title with it, winning 27-23.
