The New York Giants are an iconic football team and winner of multiple titles in its long history. The team joined the National Football League in 1925 playing in various Conferences before joining its current National Football Conference East Division in 1970. The Giants have played at the MetLife Stadium since 2010 and the team colors are dark blue, red and white.
The Giants won their first of many titles in their third season being named NFL Champions in 1927. Over the next four decades they would make it to fourteen NFL Championships winning three times. However from 1964 the team would face an extended postseason drought lasting until 1981 with the situation complicated by boardroom infighting. By 1986 the team had improved enough to get through to its first Super Bowl. After winning their Division for the first time since 1963 they destroyed the San Francisco 49ers 49-3 in the Divisional playoffs before doing the same to the Washington Redskins, winning the NFC Championship 17-0. Facing the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI they took control of the game in the third and fourth quarters to win 39-20.
Just four seasons later they were on their way to the finals again. Winning their Division they followed up by a triumphant 31-3 victory against the Bears in the playoffs and a narrow 15-13 win against the 49ers to take the NFC title. In the final they faced the Buffalo Bills and the game will be remembered as one of the narrowest victories in history as Bills placekicker Scott Norwood missed a last second field goal attempt that would have won the game, but leaving the Giants winners 20-19. Ten years later they reached the final again this time losing heavily 34-7 to the Baltimore Ravens.
The New York Giants won their third Super Bowl title in 2007, after qualifying via a Wild Card playoff, in a surprise victory against heavy favorites New England Patriots. The Giants scored the winning touchdown with just 35 seconds left with what is considered one of the best drives in NFL history. In 2011 they again qualified by Wild Card and beat the Packers and 49ers en route to the final. In Super Bowl XLVI they faced the Patriots once more and history repeated itself as the Giants won the game with a touchdown in the fourth quarter, this time with 57 seconds left on the clock.
